Feed delays...
One of the perks of having nothing to do is that one gets to watch TV. Lots of TV. So today I was watching TV when I happened across CNN talking about Pearson airport. My first reaction was "oh wow, what a coincidence, they've got one in the states too." Of course, after switching to newsworld and other local stations, I realized that it was indeed our airport. I must say, it's kind of weird watching CNN broadcasting a live feed from a local area, as I'm just so used to seeing them talking about states and whatnot. So anyway, while watching them, I noticed something - CNN would use feeds from CTV, Global and CBC, but mostly CTV or Global (although those said channels all showed the same camera view - ie all from one source). However, the "live" footage from CNN would be sooner/more recent than CTV or Global, yet CNN said it uses their feeds. So now, I'm wondering, how can this be? They all seem to be using the same highway camera (I'm assuming traffic camera), but CNN cites CTV or Global, depending on what they switched to, and for some reason, CNN's feed is faster. The delays in feed aren't too noticeable, probably a couple of seconds apart, so it's not an important matter or anything, but I just found this interesting. Actually, while I'm at it, how come they have to cite one of those two stations since it appears they're all from the same camera anyway? Who really has the right to the original camera feed? All I could think of is that the local stations have a longer delay for editing/censoring or whatnot than CNN does. Anyway, time for a snack...
